Fantaisie sur Robert Le Diable de Meyerbeer: for alto saxophone and piano
Largely forgotten today, Meyerbeer's "Robert le Diable" was one of the most influential operas of the 19th century and the subject of Franz Liszt's most popular opera paraphrase. The piece begins with Alice's first act Romance "Va, dit-elle, va, mon enfant..." There then follows Isabelle's Cavatina from Act IV "O Robert, toi que j'aime..." which is then presented in two variations. The piece ends with the Valse Infernale from Act V.
